Frost Fire Mountain Ski Vacations
Located in Walhalla, North Dakota, northwest of Grand Forks, Frost Fire offers the ultimate family ski vacation. Although this is not a large ski resort, Frost Fire is a great deal of fun, and can be an ideal destination for a great family ski vacation, as well as a great travel spot overall. As for skiing with your children, this is the perfect place to bring kids to learn how to ski because both ski lessons as well as snowboarding lessons are available at reasonable rates.
The resort features 25 acres of skiable terrain with ten trails: three trails for beginners, two for intermediates, and five for advanced skiers. The trails are accessible from three lifts including two chair lifts and one surface lift. There is a separate terrain park and a half pipe for snowboarders as well. The top elevation of Frost Fire Mountain is 1346 feet, and has a vertical drop of 345 feet.
If you don’t have your own ski equipment, that’s not a problem at Frost Fire, they have as a rental shop and a ski maintenance area on the grounds. Also, they groom the slopes daily and have the ability to make snow on all of the trails.
After a bit of skiing, you can take a break and grab a bite to eat in their day lodge which has a lounge, a grill, and a dining room. They make a day of skiing fun as well as comfortable for their guests.
As far as finding a place to stay goes, there are many motel accommodations in the area to choose from. You’ll also find lots of restaurants in the area to choose from as well. And when you’re not having fun on the slopes, you can take a visit to look around the antique shops in the area or visit one of the many natural and historical sites nearby.
There are many historical sites to see in the area, since Walhalla is the second oldest town in the state of North Dakota. You can enjoy the beauty of the Pembina Hills as you canoe on the Pembina River, North Dakota’s only “white water river” (though it is considered a relatively tame white water river) If you’re a golfer you may want to stop by the Walhalla Country Club to play a few holes, and you may even encounter a little wildlife while you’re there. While you’re around Walhalla you can also make a visit to Tetrault Woods State Forest which offers a number of activities that the whole family can enjoy including picnicking, horseback riding, hiking, and even cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. This is a great spot for nature lovers!
As you can see, there’s a lot to do both at Frost Fire Resort and around the area, whether it’s spending time skiing on the slopes or taking in some of the natural beauty that the area has to offer, making it a great travel choice for a family vacation..
